Client Services at LDA's Learning Center

LDA's client services are highly personalized, intensive, and tailored to meet the specific educational goals of children and adults. LDA Learning Center offers specialized services at our offices in Minneapolis: diagnostic assessments to confirm or rule out ADHD, testing for learning disabilities, individualized tutoring, and small group tutoring.

Diagnostic Assessments for Problems that Interfere with Learning
LDA's Diagnostic Assessment is an evaluation of a person's current life situation and reasons for referral, current functioning and symptoms, and personal history. It may confirm or rule out ADHD, screen for mental health conditions, recommend follow-up, and provide a written summary of findings and recommendations.

What does a Diagnostic Assessment provide?

  • May confirm or rule out ADHD
  • Screens for mental health conditions that interfere with learning
  • Profiles functioning in the areas assessed
  • Recommends specific follow-up and/or accommodations, if warranted
  • Provides a written summary of findings and recommendations

What will be evaluated during a Diagnostic Assessment?

  • Current life situation and sources of stress, including reasons for referral
  • Personal history, including development, education, and work
  • Current functioning and symptoms

Frequently, psychological testing is conducted as part of a Diagnostic Assessment. This testing may include:

  • Symptom checklist
  • Executive functioning
  • Attention and performance
  • Intellectual ability

Assessment for Learning Disabilities
LDA provides a range of testing services, including standard diagnostic, psycho-educational assessments administered by a team of licensed psychologists and state-certified specialists in the field of learning disabilities for children, youth, and adults.

  1. Specific Learning Disabilities Assessment confirms or rules out diagnosis of a Specific Learning Disability (SLD), profiles intellectual functioning, highlights academic strengths and weaknesses, identifies information processing problems, provides required documentation to access disability support services (if eligible), and suggests additional resources and support.

  2. GED Accommodation Assessment determines whether accommodations may be requested for GED testing according to GED standards, identifies academic strengths and weaknesses, measures cognitive ability, and, if appropriate, provides GED-required accommodation forms.

  3. Early Reading Profile is for children ages 5-9. The profile summarizes a young reader's strengths and weaknesses in areas of phonological processing and basic reading skills, may indicate whether the reader is at risk for future reading difficulties and provides recommendations for reading instruction.

  4. Adult Reading Profile reviews strengths and weaknesses in the four components of reading: alphabetics (word reading), fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension; provides a written report with results, scores, and interpretations; offers recommendations for targeted basic skill instruction; and suggests adult authentic reading materials.

  5. ADHD Evaluation (includes LD Assessment) confirms or rules out and identifies which type of ADHD and and/or LD. Profiles information on academic achievement, intellectual ability and recommendations for improving learning outcome.

  6. Dyslexia Testing identifies type and severity; provides recommendations for interventions based on client’s particular needs.

Individualized Tutoring for All Ages
LDA Minnesota provides tutoring for all ages regardless of your level of ability. Our tutoring begins by having students complete an informal assessment of reading or math skills (pre-test) to determine the appropriate level of instruction. This information assists our staff in developing a Personal Education Plan (PEP) to best meet the needs of the student. LDA Minnesota's philosophy is to start instruction at a level that is comfortable for the learner in order to build confidence and success. Our tutors incorporate a diagnostic teaching approach that is highly structured, sequential and utilizes multi-sensory techniques to reinforce learning.

Benefits of LDA Minnesota Tutoring Services:

  • LDA Minnesota’s instructors are licensed professionals and have experience working with students who have learning disabilities, attention disorders, or other learning difficulties
  • Students are matched with tutors according to the student’s interests, skills, and needs
  • Flexible scheduling
  • We provide assistance for students with severe learning disabilities to those who just need extra help in a particular subject area

All tutoring is one-to-one and sessions are usually scheduled for one hour, one or more days a week. After 12 hours of tutoring, teachers administer a post-test and evaluate both the pre-and post-test results to share with the student.

Prices for services: $55/hour. Receive a 10% discount when you prepay for 12 sessions.

If you are interested in our tutoring services, please email LDA Minnesota with your name, address and telephone number. We will send you an application and set up your appointment as soon as possible.
