(Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder)

 

Counseling

Counseling for individuals, couples, or families

Facilitated by Comfort Belbas

Hour-long sessions are available to discuss issues related to ADD or ADHD that are interfering with life success. Clients are given guidance in examining their concerns, take stock of resources, and set realistic goals. Service and number of sessions are customized to meet each client’s needs.

ADHD Support Groups

Thursday Adult Support Group (18+)

Facilitated by Comfort Belbas

Join other adults with ADHD who face similar challenges that friends and family might not understand. This new discussion group provides an open and confidential opportunity to meet others with ADHD and share strategies to manage the challenges of ADHD. This group is for adults who would benefit from regular support.

A new topic opens discussion for each support group, followed by group sharing and support to learn strategies, gain new outlooks, ask questions, and deepen understanding of ADHD concerns.

Spouse/Partner Support Group – The Next Stage

This spouse/partner group follows the Beginning Spouse/Partner Support six-week series.

On-going support allows individuals to progress further on their journey and does not follow specific topics, allowing group members to engage in open discussion on what interests them most. Participants are recommended to complete the beginning six-week series, or consult with the facilitator before registering.

Parents’ Back-to-School Mojo

Ever wonder why typical parenting, therapy, and teaching techniques don’t work with some children? The Nurtured Heart approach, created by Howard Glasser, applies to children with ADHD, ODD, autism, giftedness, or any child, ages 2-18, whose behavior does not improve with typical techniques. Learn how parents can use coaching to resolve tantrums, bad language, sibling fights, school issues, problems with peers, difficult mornings, bedtime battles, and more. Homework, from Hassles to Strategies

Create your own personal strategy notebook. Middle and High School students will walk away with needed skills and useful strategies to help organize and manage school. Individual Education Plans and Section 504 Plans

Learn about and compare IEP's and Section 504 Plans, including how and when each is used to provide students with help, parental roles in each, and recent changes in legislation governing these plans. Participants will review and work with samples of actual IEP’s, and work as a group to develop a typical 504 plan. Tutoring
LDA offers individualized tutoring that is highly structured and sequential, and utilizes multi-sensory techniques to reinforce learning. Together with the student, LDA teachers develop a personalized education plan and goals. Diagnostic testing is included. Read more.

Consultations and Presentations about ADHD Issues
LDA has developed customized workshops to meet the needs of teaching professionals, supervisors, parents, employers, and volunteers in schools, businesses, and neighborhood and community agencies.

All of LDA's educational workshops are presented by talented professionals in the fields of ADHD and learning disabilities. Workshops are interactive, engaging, and participatory. As specialists in learning, LDA experts realize that participants learn best when they are engaged through a variety of activities.

LDA's interactive workshops include small group discussions, debates, use of visual learning tools, cooperative groups, role-playing, learning-based activities, and large group discussions. Read more.

Registration & Refund Policy

Register Early!
Advance registration and payment are strongly advised. Workshops and/or support groups without sufficient advance registration are subject to cancellation on noon of the business day before the scheduled workshop/support group.

Registration and Refund Policy
Refunds will be granted for cancellations received by phone (952.922.8374), in writing, or by email (info@ldaminnesota.org) no later than 48 hours before the workshop or support group meeting. Canceling less than 48 hours before the event will result in loss of registration fee. LDA Minnesota reserves the right to cancel workshops and support group meetings, including those without sufficient advance registration. If LDA Minnesota cancels, your payment will be refunded.
